About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the tube “Poison Ivy” from pack 104 by
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase the tube at

The kit is “Positive Days” from
Foxy’s Designs
and is also available at

You will need the png version of my

You will need Animation Shop for the animation.

Font of choice.

Unless stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 65, blur 15.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 800 pixels and fill with white.

Paste my mask, select all, float and defloat, make a new layer paste paper 3 into the selection, deselect and delete the black mask layer.

Paste element 31, resize 60%, duplicate, merge the copy down onto the original and move into place.

Paste the tube, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  45, resize 50% and position below the tube, select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection by 15, make a new layer the element and fill with white, paste the close up tube mirrored, resize 65%, position in the element, invert the selection and hit delete, deselect, lower the opacity on the tube to around 70 and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Paste element  33, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  17, move into place erasing the two long stalks at the bottom and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  8, resize 80% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  18, resize 60% and mirror, move into place again erasing the bottom of the stalk and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  12, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  4, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  1 on the top, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  40, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  3, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  9, resize 25% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  42, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  36, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  15, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  25, resize 10%, duplicate, mirror one copy and resize another 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check your layers and make any adjustments then crop and apply your copyright information and text.

ANIMATION:

Put your tag to one side for a moment  and open a new  transparent canvas 500 by 350 pixels, paste the butterfly element, resize it 45% and apply a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 15, opacity 45 and blur 10.  Right click on this canvas and “copy merged” then paste it in Animation Shop.  Go to Effects – Insert Image Effects, find “Compression” from the drop down menu and apply with the settings in my screenshot below.  Now go to Animation – Rotate and rotate 30 degrees to  the right.

Copy your tag now, paste it in Animation Shop as a new animation and duplicate it so you have 15 frames which is the same as the butterfly.  Select all the butterfly frames and copy them, click on the tag and copy all the tag frames, right click go to “Paste into selected frame” and paste the butterfly on the tag.  We need to speed the animation up so select all the frames again then go to Animation – Frame properties and change the value to 5.

When you are all done,  run your tag through the Optimization Wizard and save as a gif.
