About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the fab tube “Steampunk 11” from

The kit is “Steampunk Wilding” from
Love the fairground elements in this kit!
You can purchase it at

You will need the free Metal Peacocks filter from
(its filter 10 in Gallery E).

You will need my masks

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 750 by 800 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 33 into the selection, apply mask 0024 and resize 90%.

Make another layer, paste paper 22 into the selection, deselect, apply mask 0023 and resize 95%.

Paste element 63, resize 55%, position towards the top of the masks and apply the drop shadow.

Pate element 117, resize 45%, duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.  Using my tag for reference, erase any parts of element 63 that show outside the trees.

Open frame 16 and resize it 30%, copy it and paste “As a new image”.  Go to “View” and check the Rulers box.   Activate your Pick tool and push the right hand edge of the frame in until it measures 150 width (see my screenshot below).  Then copy the frame, paste it on your canvas and move it over to the left.  You can now untick the Rulers box.

Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 5, paste paper 33 below the frame and resize it 30%, position in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete, deselect.  Duplicate both the frame and the paper twice and move each pair into position.

Paste the full size tube, resize 30%, mirror and position in the left hand frame, select the interior the frame and expand it as before, invert the selection and hit delete on the tube, deselect.     Open you Warp Brush, pick the Expand mode and size 150 then use it on the tube to distort it.  You will need to sharpen up the tube after you have used the brush as it makes it blurry (check out my Tips & Tricks page for sharpening) and you may need to erase any that has “blown” outside the frame.  Change the blend mode on the tube to “Overlay” and merge it down onto the paper.  Now apply the Metal Peacocks filter to the merged layer hitting on Randomize until you get a nice mirror effect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame.    Repeat the above with the other two frames without mirroring the tube.

Paste the tube again, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 2, resize 20%, drag below the main tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 74, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 100, resize 30% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 41, resize 25% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 40, resize 20%,  place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1, resize 20% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 43, resize 20% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 38, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 55 on the top, resize 17%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 49, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 22, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 24, resize 20% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 50, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 71, resize 20%, position below the carousel and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 20 on the top, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.
