About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

For the animation you will need

and the freebie bat animation by Simone from

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 750 by 650 and fill with white.

Paste Cloud 2, resize 85% and mirror.

Paste Smudged 2, resize 70% and rotate 90 degrees to the left.

Paste Smudged 1, resize 90% and rotate 90 degree so the left.

Paste Moon, resize 45%, mirror and placed in position.

Paste Mist, resize 40% and place in position.

Paste tree 2, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Pate frame 8, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Lawn, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the small dog with the cloak, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Grass, resize 50% and mirror, drag below the dog, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Pin, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Cauldron, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste pot, resize 40%, drag below the cauldron, place in position hiding the bucket behind the cauldron and erasing any that shows  below it and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Skull above the cauldron, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Candle 2, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Spider on the top, resize 12%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any adjustments, then crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png if you are not continuing with the animation.

Starting from the top,  close off all your layers down to and including the cauldron then merge visible on the open layers.  Close of this merged layer, open the previously closed ones, again merge visible and reopen the bottom merged layer.

Open the bat animation in Animation Shop and resize it 50%.    Copy the bottom merged layer of your tag and paste it in Animation Shop “As a new animation”.    You will see that the bat animation has 17 frames so you need to duplicate your merged tag layer until it also has 17 frames.    Right click on the first bat frame to activate it and select all the frames, go to your merged layer, click on the first frame then right click and “Paste into selected frame” to paste the bat animation on the tag.  Back in Paint Shop, copy the top merged layer of your tag, paste it in Animation Shop again “As a new animation”, duplicate it as before, select all the frames and paste on your tag.  Check your animation and, if you are happy with it, run your tag through the Optimisation Wizard and save as a gif.
