About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the fabulous February 2015 bonus tube
“Alice in Wonderland” from
This tube is not currently available but there are other suitable
tubes that would work as well.
Enys’ tubes can be purchased at

The kit is “Alice Gone Mad” from
This kit is right I my street, I loved it!
You can purchase it at

You will need my mask

Other than the keyhole, I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 800 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 15 into the selection, deselect, apply the mask and resize 90%.

Paste element 188, resize 25%, duplicate and merge the top copy down onto the original, place in position and erase the part that shows at the top  on the left side of the mask.

Paste frame 5 and resize 50%.  Select the interior the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 15, go to Selections – Load/Save Selection – Save Selection to Alpha Channel and click on “save”.  Make a new layer below the frame and paste paper 18 into the selection.    Paste your tube and resizing as needed, position in the frame, invert the selection, hit delete and deselect.  I used layer 2 of my tube resized 90%.  Apply the drop shadow to the tube.   Activate the frame and apply a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 100, blur 30 making sure the “Shadow on new layer” box is checked.  Duplicate this shadow and merge the copy down on to the original.  Now go to Selections – Load/Save Selection – Load selection from alpha channel, load the saved the selection and invert it, hit delete on the shadow and deselect.  The purpose of this is to give a deep shadow inside the keyhole to give it depth.  Go back to the frame and apply the original drop shadow so we have a shadow on the outside of the keyhole also.  Close off the white background and mask layers and merge visible, open the closed layers and move the merged layer into position.  Phew!

Paste element 118, resize 25%, drag below the merged layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 185, resize 50%, duplicate and position on either side of the keyhole along the bottom edge of the castle.

Pate element 22, resize 40% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 155, resize 25%, duplicate and mirror the copy, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste elements 94, 95, 96 and 97 and resize each of them 15%.    Rotate one card 60 degrees to the left, one 50 degrees to the left and one 30 degrees to the left, arrange your hand of cards and apply the drop shadow to each.  Be sure to sharpen up these cards after resizing and rotating as they will be blurry otherwise (check out my Tips & Tricks page for info on sharpening).

Paste element 16, resize 15% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 104, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 152 on the top, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 154, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 168, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 167, resize 25% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 143, resize 15% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 64, resize 10% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 46, resize 17%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 134, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 133, resize 10%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 53, resize 17%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 89, resize 15% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 28, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste elements 55 and 56, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 40, resize 17%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 41, resize 17%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 12, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 121, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 54, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 26, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 4, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 5, resize 17% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 123, resize 30%, mirror and place in position.

Check your layers now and make any adjustments, then crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.
