About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I am using a tube from
I just love this tube!
You can purchase it at

The kit is Steampunk Junkie from
The kit can be purchased at
This is my second tutorial using this awesome kit!

I used Grunge mask 02 from

Font is the Windows font
Impact.
Tutorial includes instructions on text.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 750 by 750 and fill with white.

Paste the mask and resize it 38%.  Select all, float and defloat the mask, make a new layer,  paste paper 3 into the selection, deselect and delete the original black mask layer.

Paste frame 8, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste frame 5, resize 55% and place in position.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 5, make a new layer below the frame and paste paper 6 into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper.

Paste element 4, resize 75%, position on the left and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 58, resize 60% and flip, drag below the merged layer and position so it shows at the top of it on the left, duplicate, mirror the copy, move it over to the right and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste the tube on the top, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 36, resize 80%, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 30, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow (we will erase the bottom of this element later).

Paste element 31, resize 50%, position so a little shows on the right of the cockerel and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 20, resize, 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 46, resize 85%, mirror and flip, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 41, resize 60%, duplicate and mirror the copy, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each. Now you can erase the bottom of the lamp.

Paste element 37, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 2, resize 25% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 60 on the top, resize 25%, duplicate and mirror the copy, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check your layers and make any adjustments then crop you tag and add your copyright information.

Open your text tool, pick two colours for your foreground and background, set the stroke to 2, find the font Impact, type your text, resize it using the vector nodes and then convert it to a raster layer.  Select all, float and defloat the font and contract the selection by 2.  Go to Effects – Texture effects – Texture, find the Grid texture and apply using the settings in my screenshots below.

Make a new layer then go to Effects – 3D Effects – Cutout and apply using the settings in my screenshot below then repeat changing the Vertical to 0 and Horizontal to 2, deselect, merge down onto the main text layer and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, export your tag as a png on a transparent background.
