About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used a beautiful tube from
This was a free tube for completing a Quest in

The re-released kit is “Holiday Magic” from
and can now be purchased at

I used 4 winter mask (2) from

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 65, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 750 pixels and fill with white.

Paste the mask and resize it 28%.  Select all, float and defloat the mask, make a new layer, paste paper 3 into the selection, deselect and delete the original black mask layer.

Paste element 25, resize 80%, place in position, apply the drop shadow and change the blend mode to “Hard Light”.

Paste element 5, resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow

Paste element 36 and resize 80%, use your Pick tool to push it in one end and make it less wide then place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste your tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 25%.

Paste element 6, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  You will need to erase the bottom part of this later when you have your other elements in position.

Paste element 49, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 32a, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 10, resize 30% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 12, resize 30% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 2, resize 80% and flip, drag down to just above the cage, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 15, resize 80%, position just below the word art and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 44 on the top, resize 40%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 43, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 29, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 21, resize 20% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 24, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 22, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 13, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 11, resize 12%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 8, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1, resize 12% and rotate 50 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any adjustments.

Select the mask, float and defloat it, paste the tube again.  How you do this depends on what works best with your tube. I mirrored mine, resized it 90% and changed the blend mode to “Overlay”.  When you have your tube in position, invert the mask select and hit delete on the tube, then deselect.    I then erased most of the tube from the mask leaving just the fawn’s face using a biggish brush on a low opacity so it blended in.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.
