About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the tube “Lucy” from
You can purchase the tube from

I used a really pretty kit called “Pink Christmas”.
The kit is part of the double pack “Xmassy 1” from
This kit was previously for sale in a different store and
I have already used it in two tutorials.
You can purchase it now at

I used mask 1 from set 36 by

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 45, blue 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 700 and fill with white.

Paste element 1 and resize 85%.

Open the mask and mirror it.  Make a new layer below the element, select all, paste paper 1 into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.   Resize the mask 90% and lower the opacity to around 60.  When I had finished my tag I used the Pick tool on my mask to adjust the size a little more.

Paste element 5 on the top and resize 65%.  We will come back to this.

Paste the tube, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I recoloured the pink dress slightly as it didn’t quite go with the kit and also recoloured her very blue eyes!

Paste element 3, resize 40% and mirror (be sure to sharpen this element up well), drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 15, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 30, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 22, resize 40% and duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 28 on the top, resize 40% and duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 20, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 12, resize 40%, drag below elements 28 and 20, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 21, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 24, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 26 and drag above both copies of element 28, resize 60%, place in position, duplicate, flip the duplicate, position so the centre part shows below element 20 and erase the ends, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 9, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 13, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14, resize 35%, place in position erasing the top of the chain and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any adjustments.

Paste the tube again below element 5 (the frame), resize 60%, position in the element and change the blend mode to “Overlay”.

Paste paper 5 as a new layer below this tube, resize the paper 60% and position it so the pink and gold shade nicely on the tube.  Select the interior of the element with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10, invert the selection, hit delete on both the tube and the paper, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.
