About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

You can purchase the tube at

I used a beautiful formerly pay to use and now freebie kit from
called “Winter Kisses”.
You can get the kit from
Thank you Carita for this lovely freebie.

I used Xmas mask 1 from the Ragyogó Karácsony freebie kit by

You will need Animation Shop for the animation.

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 65, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 700 pixels and fill with white.

Paste the mask as a new layer and resize it 23%.  Selections – select all, selections - float, selections – defloat,  make a new layer and paste paper 3 into the selection, deselect and delete the black mask layer.

Paste element 13 and resize 55%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it, paste paper 4 into the selection and deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame, merge it down onto the paper and move into position.

Paste element 25, resize 80%, drag below the merged layer and place in position.

Paste the tube on the top, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I re-coloured mine a mono colour to match the kit.

Paste element 27, resize 55%, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 12, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 20, resize 95%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 18a, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 23 on the top, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 16, resize 60% and place in position.

Paste element 21, resize 50%, drag below element 16, duplicate and mirror the duplicate, place in position erasing the parts that overlap and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 22, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any adjustments then crop your tag and add your copyright information and text.

Animation:

Close off the text.

Go back to element 25, duplicate it eight times, close off all the copies and apply the drop shadow to the original layer.  Close off that layer and open the first copy, go to Adjust – Add Remove Noise – Add Noise, check the Gaussian and Monochrome boxes, set the noise value to 30 and apply, then apply the drop shadow to this layer, close it and open the second copy.  Repeat the above with the second copy but with the noise value set to 35.  Now repeat all the above with the next 3 copies (one just the drop shadow, one noise value set to 30, one  noise value set to 35) then again repeat with the last three copies.  Put this aside for a moment.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and fill with white.  Copy element 16 from your tag and paste it as a new layer on this canvas then duplicate it twice.  Close off the original and top copy and work on the first copy.   Activate your Lighten/Darken tool (I have indicated it on my screenshot below).  Change the size to 25, hold it over the top largest jewel in the element and left click 3 times (left click lightens, right click darkens).   Close this copy, open the top copy and repeat clicking 6 times.  Change the brush size to 15 and repeat the above on each copy clicking on the smallest jewel in the centre.  Change the brush size to 20 and repeat on the bottom jewel.  Apply the drop shadow to all three copies.

Go back to your main tag, close of element 16 and the top eight copies of element 4 leaving just the original copy open, right click on your tag and copy it, open Animation Shop and paste as “A New Animation”.  Back in Paintshop, close off that layer of element 16, open the first copy, again copy the tag and paste it in Animation Shop “Before Current Frame”.  Repeat the above with all your layers and put this animation aside for a moment.

Back on the canvas with just the jewels, close off the white background and the top two copies of the jewel, right click, copy merged and paste in Animation Shop as “A New Animation”.  Back in Paintshop, close off this layer, open the first copy, copy it, go back in Animation Shop and paste“Before Current Frame”. Repeat with the top copy.  Now duplicate each of these frames twice so you have three copies of each (copy layer 1, copy layer 1, copy layer 1, copy layer 2, copy  layer 2, copy layer 2, copy layer 3, copy layer 3, copy layer 3).   Select all these copies and copy them, (Edit – Selection All – Edit – Copy) go back to the main tag animation, again select all the copies, right click on the first frame, go to “Paste into Selected Frame” and position the jewels back on the tag.

Now open your text, copy it and paste it in Animation Shop as “A New Animation”, duplicate it eight times and then copy it and paste it as before onto your main tag.

Run your tag through the Animation Wizard and save as a gif.
