About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used a gorgeous tube from
Anna Liwanag.
This tube comes with several colour options and can be purchased at

The kit is “Precious Moments” from
This is a really beautiful kit and is available at
You can purchase the kit at the store or just add it to your cart
and receive it as a free gift with a $6 purchase.

I used mask 84 from
and mask 0492 from

I used the Windows front Impact.
Instructions on the text are included in the tutorial.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 725 by 800 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 1 into the selection and deselect.  Duplicate the paper, close off the copy and apply Weescotslass’ mask to the original.  Open the copy paper, apply Trese’s mask making sure the “Invert mask data” box is checked and resize 95%.

Paste frame 3, resize 55% and move into position.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 15, make a new layer below the frame and paste paper 4 into it.  Paste the close up tube, position in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete.  Change the blend mode on the tube to “Overlay” and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Paste element 29, resize 65% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 39, resize 65% and rotate 40 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the main tube, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 13, resize 70% and position below the fan, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position the duplicate to the right of the tube, duplicate the original again, flip this copy ,  rotate it 30 degrees to the left and position at the bottom.  Apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 22, resize 30% and position to the right of the tube, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left below the leaves.

Paste element 36, resize 35%, place in position above the fan and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 41, resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 44, resize 80% and rotate 40 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 48, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste item 25, resie 20%, drag below the ribbon, duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 31, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.   Cut and paste part of the ribbon to move it below the key and bauble.

Paste element 52 on the top, resize 35% and rotate 40 degrees in either direction, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 54, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any adjustments.

Choose a pale colour  (this will be the outline of your text), use it for the background colour with foreground closed off, open the font and type your text in capitals.  Resize the text and then convert it to a raster layer, select it, float and defloat it and contract the selection by 2.  Paste paper 1 as a new layer and resize it so you have some nice colours on the font, invert the selection, hit delete to remove the excess paper, do not deselect.  Make a new layer, go to Effects – 3D Effects – Cutout and apply with the settings in my screenshot below then deselect.  Merge the cutout layer down onto the paper,  merge down again onto the original text and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and export on a transparent background as a png.
