About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

I used mask 63 from Simone at

You will need Animation Shop for the animation.

Font is

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 10 which I will call shadow 1 and a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10 which I will call shadow 2.

Open a new transparent canvas 750 by 750 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 2 into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Paste element 31, resize 85%, move up a little and apply shadow 1.

Paste frame 3, resize 70% an rotate 90 degrees in either direction.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 30, make a new layer below the frame and paste paper 6 into the selection, deselect and apply shadow 1,  merge the frame down onto the paper and move down a little.

Paste the tube, resize 70%, place in position and apply shadow 2.

Paste element 17, resize 60% and apply shadow 2, drag below the tube, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and place in position.

Paste element 3 on the top, resize 30%, mirror and apply shadow 2, position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Paste element 24, resize 50%, apply shadow 2, duplicate and place in position.

Paste element 8 on the top, resize 45%,  place in position and apply shadow 1.When you come to do your text you can stretch this element out a bit wider with your Pick tool.

Paste element 13, resize 30%, drag below element 8, place in position and apply shadow 2.

Paste element 22, resize 30%, mirror and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply shadow 2.

Paste element 14, resize 30% and mirror, apply shadow 2, duplicate and mirror the duplicate.

Paste element 19, resize 25%, place in positon and apply shadow 2.

Paste element 9, resize 30%, place in position and apply shadow 2.

Paste element 7, resize 20% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply shadow 2.

Paste element 3a, resize 30%, place in position and apply shadow 2.

Paste element 32, resize 20%, place in position and apply shadow 2.

Paste element 3a again, resize 30%, mirror and flip, apply shadow 2 and position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Paste element 4, resize 80%,  flip and apply shadow 1.

Paste element 12, resize 20% and apply shadow 1.

Paste element 5 on the top, resize 30% and apply shadow 2.

Paste element 15, resize 25% and apply shadow 1, duplicate and place both in position.

Paste element 16, resize 55%, place in position on the right and apply shadow 2, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Check your layers and make any adjustments, then crop your tag and add your copyright information.

Click on element 8 to activate it, open the font and with foreground closed off and background on any colour type your text, use the vector nodes to resize it to fit the element and then covert it to a raster layer.  Select the text, float and defloat it then go again to Selections – Promote Selectin to layer.  Deselect and delete your typed text layer.  Apply an inner bevel to the promoted selection as in my screenshot below and  then apply shadow 1.

ANIMATION

Merge the copy candle down onto the original so you have the one layer and then duplicate it three times.  Rename these layers Candle 1, Candle 2, 3 and 4 and close off candles 1, 3 and 4.

Activate candle 2, open your Warp Brush, set it to Push with the settings in my screenshot below and push the candle flames a tiny little bit to a different position.   Repeat this with candles 3 and 4.

Using the warp brush blurs things a little so now we need to sharpen the flames up, to do this use your “Sharpen Brush” on the settings in my screen shot below and just tap it once on each candle frame.

Close off all your candle layers apart from candle 1, right click on your tag and paste it in Animation Shop “As A New Animation”.  Back in Paint Shop, close off candle 1, open candle 2, copy again and paste in Animation Shop “Before Current Frame”.   Repeat this with candle 3 and 4.  The flickering runs a little fast so change the frame properties to 20 to slow it down a little (Edit – Select All – Animation – Frame Properties).

Run your tag through the optimization wizard and save it as a Gif.
