About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of
You need a license to use to Dirk’s art, they are available at

I used a fantastic kit called “My Secret Garden” from
This is the first of Jessica’s creative team inspirational kits
and was created for
Also available is a pack of 10 clusters with 1 paper and
a free mini sampler.
You can purchase the kit and clusters at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 117 from

Font of choice.

Apart from the word art, I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 625 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 12 into the selection and apply the mask.

Paste the bushes, resize 75%, position towards the top of the mask then use your pick tool to make them a little longer so the bottom covers about two thirds off the height of the mask and apply the drop shadow.

Paste tree 2, resize 45% and place in position.

Paste the pond, resize 75% and position at the bottom.

Paste frame 3, resize 35% and rotate 80 degrees to the right.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, paste paper 3 below the frame, resize 30% and position in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess paper, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame, merge it down onto the paper and place in position.

Paste the mirror, resize 45% and place in position.

Paste the tube, duplicate it, mirror the duplicate and then close it off.  Resize the original 80%, this is the main tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Go back to the mirror and with your freehand selection tool set to point to point with feather 0, draw a selection around the glass (don’t worry about getting it exact, you can tidy up with your erasor.  Open the copy of the tube and position it in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess.    Invert the selection again, make a new layer and paste paper 12 into into it, deselect.  Change the blend mode on the paper to “Overlay”, lower the opacity of the tube to around 45 and apply the drop shadow to the mirror.    Do any tidying up you need to do then merge the tube down onto the mirror and then the paper down onto the tube/mirror.

Paste the snail, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the pussy willow, resize 30% and mirror, drag below the merged layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste grass, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the doodle, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the fence, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the branch above the merged layer, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the garden lantern, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the ivy, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the red apple, resize 17%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the CupwCoffee,  resize 13%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the timepiece,  resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the strawberries, resize 10%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the bird, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the frog, resize 18%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the water, resize 85% and place in position.

Paste the waterdrops, resize 35% and place in position.

Paste wordart 4 on the top, resize 60% and duplicate, merge the copy down onto the original, place in position and apply a drop shadow changing the horizontal to 3, opacity to 75 and blur to 5.

Paste element 4, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back).

Paste the monarch, resize 10% and duplicate, mirror the duplicate and rotate it 40 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  I dabbed around the side edges of the pond with my erasor size 100 and opacity on 10 to blend it into the mask.   When you are happy, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.
