About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the layered tube “Black Velvet”
from pack 72 by
I just love this tube!
You can purchase Barbara’s tubes from

The kit is “Falling Dark” from
The kit is also available at

For the background, I used mask 0501 from

You will also need the 20-20 mask

Font is

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 750 by 650 and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 5 into the selection and apply Trese’s mask making sure the box “Invert mask data” is checked.

Paste element 2 and resize 70%.  Paste element 16 and drag it below element 2, resize 85% and position in one of the parts of the frame, select the interior of that part of the frame, expand the selection by 20, invert it and hit delete on the fireplace.  Repeat this with the two other sections of the frame.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame, close off the white back and mask layers and merge visible, open the closed layers and move the merged layer into position.

Paste the main tube, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 19, resize 85%, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 4, resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, drag below the ribbon, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 24, resize 80%, position on the left, duplicate and position the duplicate in the middle, duplicate again and position on the right, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 23, resize 55%, drag below the ribbon, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 33, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 34 on the top, resize 40%, mirror, flip and rotate 40 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers now and make any necessary adjustments.

Open the close up of the tube, duplicate it and close the original, apply the 20/20 mask and paste it as a new layer on your canvas below the merged layer, mirror and place in position.  Click on the mask layer to activate it and then click anywhere on your canvas outside of the mask to make a selection, go to Selections – Modify – Feather and set the amount to 80, now click on the copy mask and hit delete several times until it fades into the mask, deselect.

Paste element 20, resize 110%, drag below the copy tube, change the blend mode to “Overlay” and position on her left.

Paste element 17, resize 80%, place in position, erase the part that is over the copy tube and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.
