About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used a tube by
VeryMany.
You can purchase the tube at

I used two awesome kits, Witchy and Witchy II by
You will find the kits at

Font of choice.

In the tutorial I refer to Witchy kit as W1 and Witchy II as W2.

Unless stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels as fill with white.

Paste the mask (W1) as a new layer and resize 65%.

Paste the window (W2) as a new layer, resize 50% and place in position.  With your freehand selection tool set to point to point, draw a selection around the inside part of the window, make a new layer below the window and paste paper 11 (W1) into the selection, deselect.  We will come back to this.

Paste mesh (W1) as a new layer, drag below the window and paper layers, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste weeds (W1) as a new layer, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the sunflower (W2) as a new layer, resize 60% duplicate, mirror the original and rotate the copy 30 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste your tube as a new layer and bring to the top, place in position resizing as needed and apply the drop shadow.   I resized my tube 37%.

Paste crow (W2) as a new layer, resize 25%, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste pumpkin 1 (W1) as a new layer, resize 30%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and resize it another 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste spellbook (W2) as a new layer, resize 27%, position between the pumpkins and apply the drop shadow.

Paste basket (W1) as a new layer, resize 30%, drag above the top pumpkin, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste container (W1) as a new layer, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste potions (W1) as a new layer, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste skull (W2) as a new layer, resize 18%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste candle (W1) as a new layer, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste mouse (W1) as a new layer, resize 30% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Paste leaf 1 (W1) as a new layer, resize 15%, position on the basket and apply the drop shadow.

Paste leaf 2 (W1) as a new layer, resize 18%, position on the top and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the tube again, mirror it and drag between the window and the paper, resize if needed and position in the window and change the blend mode to “Overlay”.  Select the paper below the window, float and defloat it, invert the selection and hit delete on the tube to remove the excess, deselect.  I used the full size tube in its original size.  Apply the drop shadow to the window.

Paste web (W1) as a new layer above the window,  resize 45% and place in position, apply a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 1, opacity 100, blur 3.

Paste spider (W2) as a new layer, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back).

Paste cloud (W2) as a new layer, resize 40% and position just above the frame, erase any that shows below the bottom of the tag (change your white background layer to black to see them).

Paste lights (W2) as a new layer, resize 60% and position just above the spellbook.  Erase any that show outside of the mask (again check on a black layer).

Check your layers again and when you are happy, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.
