About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the awesome layered tube “Guardian Angel”
from the latest pack 62 from
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase the tube at

I used the fabulous kit “Autumn Song” by
The kit can also be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 117 by

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal  5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 1 into the selection, deselect, apply the mask and then mirror it.

Paste element 10 as a new layer and resize 50%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20 and make a new layer below it, copy paper 5 and paste it into the selection, deselect, apply the drop shadow to the frame,  merge it down onto the paper, rotate 20 degrees to the right and place in position.

Paste element 36 as a new layer, resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 15 as a new layer, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the tube as a new layer, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 4 as a new layer, resize 70%, drag below the tube and place in position.  Select the interior of each part of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection as before and make a new layer below it, copy paper 3 and paste it into the selection, delesect.   Paste the tube again but this time do not resize, duplicate it, mirror the duplicate and position one copy in each side section of the element, again select the interior of each section and expand it as before, invert the selection and hit delete on the tubes, deselect and change the blend modes to “Overlay”.  Go back to the paper layer below the tubes and apply the Blinds texture using the settings in my screenshot below then repeat with the same settings and also Horizontal checked.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Paste element 12 as a new layer, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 3 as a new layer, resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 9 as a new layer, resize 55% and position on the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position it on the right, duplicate the original again, drag above the tube, mirror and flip and place in position, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 31 as a new layer, resize 55% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 28 as a new layer, resize 35%, drag below the watch and position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 21 as a new layer, resize 35% and position on the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, resize it another 90% and place in position, duplicate the original again, bring to the top and place in position, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 18 as a new layer, resize 45%, place in position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 33 as a new layer, resize 35%, drag below the top toadstool, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 30 as a new layer, resize 45%, mirror and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 2 as a new layer, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14 as a new layer, resize 40%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 19 as a new layer, resize 30%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and resize it another 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check your layers and make any necessary adjustments, then crop your tag and add your copyright information and text.

Paste element 22 as a new layer, resize 40% and position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position it on your text, apply the drop shadow to each.

When you are done, export your tag on a transparent background as a png.
