About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the fabulous layered tube “Sweet Charity”
from the latest pack 59 by
Barbara Jensen.
The tube is available at

The kit is “Golden Cream” from
This is a beautiful kit which can also be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 6 from

I used the font

Unless noted, I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 65, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 700 pixels and fill with white.

Copy paper 9, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Paste element 20 as a new layer, resize 50%, rotate 20 degrees to the left and place in position.

Select the interior of the heart with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20 and make a new layer below it, copy the paper again and paste it into the selection, deselect.  We will work with this again later.

Paste element 24 as a new layer, resize 75% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste your tube as a new layer, place in position resizing as needed and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 70%.

Paste element 22 as a new layer, rotate 70 degrees to the right, drag down below the heart and paper layers and position on the left, duplicate, flip the duplicate and position on the right.  Apply a drop shadow to each changing the horizontal to 2 and blur to 5.

Paste element 7 as a new layer and drag it above the heart, resize 40% and mirror, position to the right of the tube, duplicate, resize the duplicate another 85%, mirror it and position on the left of the tube.  Apply the drop shadow to each (remember to change the settings back).

Paste element 28 as a new layer, resize 70% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, position so some shows on the right of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 4 as a new layer and bring to the top, resize 40% and duplicate, resize the duplicate another 90% and place in position.  Apply the drop shadow to each making sure the box “shadow on a new layer” is checked then carefully erase the part of the shadow that is around the flames.

Paste element 6 as a new layer,  resize 30%, drag down so it’s between the two candles, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 28 again, resize 70% again, rotate 90 degrees to the left and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 26 as a new layer on the top, resize 90% and place in position.

Paste element 20 as a new layer, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 19 as a new layer, resize 90%, drag below the cloud, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 16 as a new layer, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow changing the blur to 5.

Paste element 21 as a new layer resize 50%, position so the end shows on the left of the cloud, duplicate and move the duplicate over to the right, apply the drop shadow to each (remember to change the settings back).

Paste element 8 as a new layer, resize 50% and duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 30 as a new layer on the top, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Go back to the heart frame and select the interior with your magic wand and expand the selection as before, copy paper 7 and paste it as a new layer below the heart frame,  resize the paper 40% and position it in the frame so part of the butterfly shows with some of the writing below it (there will be a bit of a gap on the right, make sure the gap is covered by your tube and the parasol) invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess paper, deselect. Now drag this paper below the original one you pasted in the heart and change the blend mode on the top paper to overlay.  Apply the drop shadow to the heart.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.
