About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of
Barbara Jensen.
This tube is from one of Barbara’s older packages and is called
“Cheeks Ahoy”.
You can purchase the tube from

I used a gorgeous kit called “Silent Harbour” by
This is a very big kit with lots more elements than I have used,
you can purchase it at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 1, also by
Dee.

I used the windows front
Century Gothic.

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page if this is the first tutorial of mine you have followed, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Copy Paper_5, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Paste Paper_12 as a new layer on your canvas, resize it 40% and mirror it.

Now paste Frame_7 as a new layer and resize 50%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20,  position the paper in the frame like I have so that the palm tree shows, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame, merge it down onto the paper and place in position.

Paste Element_59 as a new layer, resize 60%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element_27 as a new layer, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element_3 as a new layer, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element_20 as a new layer, resize 28%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element_55 as a new layer, resize 35%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element_51b as a new layer, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element_65 as a new layer, resize 23%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element_60 as a new layer, resize 23%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste your tube as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 85%.

Paste Element_2 as a new layer, resize 70%, drag below element 3 (the white flower) and place in position.

Paste Element_8 as a new layer, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 78 as a new layer, resize 70%, drag below the ship and place in position.  We will work with this more later.

Paste Element_21 as a new layer and bring to the top, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste wordart_4 as a new layer, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers now and make any necessary adjustments.

Paste Element_35 as a new layer, resize 70%, drag right down to just above the mask and position so it shows at the top, duplicate and move the duplicate down and to the right erasing any that shows at the bottom of the tag if you need to.   Apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Paste Spray_2 as a new layer just above element 27, resize it 75% and position so a little shows on the right.

Go back to element 78 (that’s the big wave) and click on it to activate it, duplicate it and drag the duplicate up above the ship.   Now take your eraser, set the size to 50 and the opacity to 10 and erase some of this top layer so that the ship shows through more but leave the top of the wave coming over the ship.

Paste Element_50 as a new layer, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.
