About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the fabulous layered tube “Aqua Sirene”
from the latest pack 56 from
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase the tube at

The kit is called “Moroccon Mood” by
This is a gorgeous colourful kit and can also be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 0120 by Simone at

I used the font
Tutorial includes instructions on the text.

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before you start if this is the first tutorial of mine you have followed, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Copy paper 1, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect, mirror the paper and apply the mask.  Resize 95%.  Apply the blinds text on the mask with my settings in the screenshot below, colour #240802 then repeat with the Horizontal box checked.  The only reason I mirrored the paper was because the brighter colours on the right side of the paper showed the frame up better.

Paste element 23 as a new layer, resize 65% and move up and to the right, duplicate and move the duplicate down and to the left, apply the drop shadow to each copy.

Paste element 6 as a new layer and resize 60%.  Select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10 and make a new layer below it, copy paper 10 and paste it into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the element, merge it down onto the paper and place in position.

Paste element 10 as a new layer, resize 55%, mirror and place in position.  Again select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection as before and make a new layer below it, copy paper 2 and paste it into the selection.  Open your tube or close up, mirror it and paste it as a new layer, position in the frame resizing as needed, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the tube, change the blend mode to “Luminance Legacy” and merge it down onto the paper, then apply the two blinds textures with the same settings you used on the mask.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame.  I used the close up tube resized 75%.

Now paste your main tube as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized this tube 70%.

Paste element 21 as a new layer, resize 60%, drag below the main tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 11 as a new layer, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 30 as a new layer, resize 50% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 28 as a new layer, resize 50% and position on the right.  Duplicate this layer, flip the duplicate, drag it below element 11 and position on the left.  Apply the drop shadow to each copy.

Paste element 26 as a new layer and drag up to just below the tube, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 26 as a new layer, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14 as a new layer, resize 45%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 9 as a new layer, resize 35% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 25 as a new layer and bring to the top, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 8 as a new layer, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 3 as a new layer, resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 7 as a new layer, resize 60% and flip, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 2 as a new layer, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are done crop your tag and add your copyright information.

Pick two colours for your text, open your font, set the foreground to 2, type your text and convert it to a raster layer.  Select the text, float it, defloat it and contract the selection by 2, then make a new layer above it.  Go to Effects – 3D Effects – Cutout, apply the cut out on the new blank layer with the settings in my screen shot below with the colour black then deselect.  Merge this layer down onto the text layer and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, save  your tag on a transparent background as a png.
