About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the tube Black Pearl
from pack 55 by
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase the tube at

I used a very pretty kit called “Soft Touch” by
The kit is also available at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 63 by Simone at
Scrappy Bit of Fun.

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before you start if this is the first tutorial of mine you have followed, thank you.

Unless otherwise noted, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open the mask and rotate it 90 degrees to the right then minimize.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 700 pixels and fill with white.

Copy pp9, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 95%.

Paste element 4 as a new  layer, resize 70% and move up a little.   Select the interior of the element with your magic wand, expand the selection by 30 and make a new layer below it, paste the paper into the selection and deselect.  Apply the shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper.

Paste element 22 as a new layer, mirror, resize 80% and rotate 30 degrees to the right.   Drag the element below the merged layer, position on the right and apply the shadow, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position  on the left.

Paste your tube as a new layer and bring to the top, resize as needed, place in position and apply the shadow.  I resized my tube 75% and also did some re-colouring.

Paste element 19 as a new layer, resize 35%, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the  shadow.

Paste element 2 as a new layer, mirror, resize 50%, place in position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 15 as a new layer, resize 65%, place in position and apply the shadow.

Paste element 18 as a new layer, resize 35%, drag below element 15 and duplicate, place both tassels in position and apply the shadow to each.

Paste element 12 as a new layer, resize 60%, position on the right and apply the shadow.  Duplicate the element, mirror the duplicate, erase the stalk if you need to and position on the left.

Paste element 17 as a new layer, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 21 as a new layer, resize 75% and position on the left.  Duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate and position on the right.  Erase any parts that overlap and are below the tube and apply the shadow to each.

Paste element 10 as a new  layer and bring to the top, resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 27 as a new layer, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 25 as a new layer, resize 25% and duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place both elements into position and apply the shadow to each.

Check the positions of your layers now and make any necessary adjustments.

Paste element 3 as a new layer, resize 60%, drag down to just above the mask and position top, right. Duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate and position bottom, left.  Apply a shadow to each layer of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 65, blur 5.

When you are all done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text then export on a transparent background as a png.
