About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the tube “Personal Sun” by
Jeff Haynie.
You need a license to use Jeff’s art, available at
If you want to use a different tube but don’t have one with an
umbrella, there is an umbrella in the kit you can use
but remember it is against most artist’s terms to alter a tube
to make it hold an item.

I used a gorgeous spring kit called “April Showers” by
You will find the kit at

You will need a rain tube, you can use mine if you
don’t have one of you own, you can get it

You will also need a mask, I used two, mask 69 by Simone at
and mask DD_SM_8 by

I used the font

If this is the first tutorial of mine you have followed, please check out my “About my tutorials” page before you start, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Copy Paper_18, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply Simone’s mask.  Resize 90% and mirror.

Make another layer, paste the paper into the selection again and apply Dee’s mask.

Paste Frame_2 as a new layer and resize 55%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10 and make a new layer below it, copy Paper_8 and paste it into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper.

Paste GlitterBling as a new layer, resize 70%, drag below the merged layer and position bottom, right.  Duplicate this layer, flip it and position top, left.

Paste Sun as a new later, resize 55% and place in position.

Paste Fence as a new layer, position so a section shows on the left of the merged layer and erase the part that shows on the right.  Duplicate the fence, mirror the duplicate and position so it to show on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Paste LightBulbs2 as a new layer, resize 50% and rotate 20 degrees to the right. Position the bulbs on the section of fence on the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the fence on the right.  Erase a little bit of each of the loops so they hang over the fence slat and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste GrassTurf as a new layer and bring to the top, resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I erased the bottom of the merged frame layer that showed below this.

Paste your tube as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 65%.

Paste Leaves2 as a new layer, resize 75%, drag below the tube and the turf layer,  place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Flowers1 as a new layer, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Dandelion as a new layer, resize 40% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Bamboo as a new layer, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste BrightBlings as a new layer and drag above the turf, resize 55% and place in position.

Paste Ribbon as a new layer, resize 50%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Nest as a new layer, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Exotic Bird as a new layer and bring to the top, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste WordArt2 as a new layer, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow,

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Paste the two Ladybugs as new layers, resize each 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Bee as a new layer, resize 12%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Butterfly as a new layer, resize 15%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow,

Paste my Raindrops as a new layer, resize 80% and place in position.

Paste Cloud as a new layer, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as png.
