About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the fabulous art of
Gaetano Di Falco.
You need a license to use Gaetano’s art, available at

I used a fabulous kit called “Dark Secrets” by
This kit is part of an amazing collab by
Dees’Sign Depot, Gothic Inspirations and Chi Chi Designz.
You can purchase this part separately at
or the collab at

You will also need mask, I used mask 84 by

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting if this is the first tutorial of mine you have followed.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, copy Paper 1, paste it into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 110.

Paste Window as a new layer, resize 80% and position on the left.  Click anywhere outside the element with your magic wand to make a selection and expand the selection by 10, copy Paper 8 and paste it as a new layer below the window, resize the paper 90%, position it in the frame so you can see the moon and then hit delete to remove the excess.  Deselect, apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper.

Paste Web as a new layer, resize 55%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  Resize 55% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste your tube as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 90%.

Paste Urn as a new layer, resize 70%, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Books as a new layer, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Wordart 2 as a new layer, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Cat as a new layer and bring to the top, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Wordart 5 as a new layer, resize 40% and rotate 15 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Flower 2 as a new layer, resize 30%, position in front of the cat and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Flower 6 as a new layer, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Feather as a new layer, resize 25%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow

Paste LockBox as a new layer, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Now is a good time to do a little check on your layer positions.

Paste Leaves2 as a new layer, resize 40%, drag below LockBox and position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left below the flowers, apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Paste Flower1 as a new layer and drag up to just below LockBox, resize 40%,  position on the right of the box, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left of the box,  apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste Clock as a new layer, resize 30% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Ribbon3 as a new layer and bring to the top, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Mask as a new layer, resize 25% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Lantern as a new layer, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Bell as a new layer, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Key2 as a new layer, mirror, resize 25%, drag below the bell, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Crystal as a new layer and bring to the top, resize 10% and duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place both elements into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Again, check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Paste Spider as a new layer on the top, resize 15% and position in front of LockBox, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, drag down and position on the books, apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Paste Web again, resize 40%, position on Wordart5 and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Crow1 as a new layer on the top, resize 30%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Crow2 as a new layer, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Light as a new layer, resize 70% and place in position on the left.

When you are all done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a png on a transparent background.
