About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Vinegar.
I purchased this tube at
My PSP Tubes.
Vinegar now sells her tubes at
Creative Design Outlet

I used a kit called “Ice Queen” by
This is a really fabulous free to use kit which you will
find on Jessica’s blog under Scrap Freebies or you
can use the search box.
Thank you so much Jessica for this beauty!

You will also need a mask, I used mask 209 by

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page if this is the first tutorial of mine you have followed.

Unless otherwise stated in the tutorial, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Open and copy Paper4-GI_IceQueen, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 95%.

Open Frame4-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 55% and move up a little.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 5 and make a new layer below it.

Copy the paper again and paste it into the selection, do not deselect.

Open Iceicles-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55% and position in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and the icicles  and merge the frame down onto the icicles and then merge down again onto the paper.

Open Grid-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and mirror, drag below the merged layer and position on the left, duplicate and position the duplicate on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers changing the horizontal and vertical to 1 and blur to 5.

Open Moon-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow this time with vertical and horizontal set to 2 and blur the same as last time at 5.

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back to the original ones).  I resized my tube 75%.

Open FabricFlower2-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open FabricFlower3-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Doodle-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and rotate 5 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open IceCube-GI_IceQueen, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Sheer-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65% and place in position.

Open Crown-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open LookingGlass-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Kitty-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open WordArt3-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65% and place in position.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Open   Cloud-GI_IceQueen and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, drag below the tube and place in position.

Crop your tag, add your copyright information and text.  If you are not continuing with the animation, export your tag on a transparent background as a png.   When cropping, make sure not to cut into the moon, check it on a blackground also.

Animation:

Merge the layers on your tag and the duplicate it twice.  Rename the bottom copy “Cat1” and close it off, also close off the top copy.

Working on the middle copy, draw a freehand selection, point to point with feather on 0 through the cats eyes like my screenshot below, make a new layer, fill with black, deselect and merge down.   Rename this “Cat2” close it off and open the top copy.

Now do the same thing on the top copy but with the selection covering all of the cats eyes so he is completely black. Rename “Cat3”. Close off Cat3 and open Cat2.

Copy Cat2 and paste it in Animation Shop “As a New Animation”.

Copy Cat3 and paste it in Animation Shop “Before Current Frame”.

Copy Cat 2 again and paste it in Animation Shop “Before Current Frame”.

Copy Cat1 and paste it in Animation Shop “Before Current Frame”.

Now change the Animation frame on the first frame to 225, change the second and third frames to 20 and leave the last frame on ten.  Below is a summary of your frames.

Layer                                                                     Animation frame

Cat1                                                                       225

Cat2                                                                       20

Cat3                                                                       20

Cat2                                                                       10

When you are done, run your tag through the Optimization Wizard and save as a gif.
