About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the tube “Unseamly”
from the layered pack 22 by
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase the tube from

The kit is called “Pink Christmas” by
I love the colour scheme of this beautiful kit
which can also be found at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 220 by

I used the font
Amonite

Please check my “About my tutorials” page before starting if this is the first tutorial of mine you have followed, thank you.

Unless otherwise noted, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 650 pixels and fill with white.

Open and copy pp7, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open el18, paste as a new layer and resize 70%.   Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20.  Open and copy pp8, paste it as a new layer below the frame, resize it 50%, invert the selection and hit delete, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame, merge it down onto the paper and move up a little.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, pick your layers and merge visible.    I resized my tube 80%.

Open el28 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and rotate 40 degrees to the left.  Drag below the merged layer, position on the right and apply the drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Open el15. paste as a new layer and drag above the merged layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el10 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, drag below the bell, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el22, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 50%,  position on the left and rename this layer 22-1  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate,  position on the right and rename the layer 22-2.  Duplicate the original again, bring to the top,  position in the middle and rename 22-3.  Apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Open el27 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, position just above 22-1 and apply the drop shadow.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 70%, position 22-2 and apply the drop shadow.

Open el27 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 75% and position above 22-3.

Open el21 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35% and position on the top.   Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position above 22-2.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el24 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, position on the top and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el19 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55% and apply a drop shadow changing the vertical and horizontal to 1 and blur to 2.   Make sure you sharpen him up well to get his nice lustre back after resizing.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  I duplicated 22-3, dragged it up above the bauble and erased the top branch out so the bauble looked like it was between the branches.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.
