About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the tube “Santa’s Girl”
from pack 48 by
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase the tube at

The kit is called “Taste of Mint” by
and can also be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 84 by

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting if this is the first tutorial of mine that you have followed, thank you.

Unless otherwise stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Open and copy pp6, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Open element 10 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65% and move up a little.  Select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10 and make a new layer below it, open and copy pp3 and paste into the selection, deselect.  Apply a drop shadow to the frame of Veritical and Horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 15 and then merge the frame down onto the paper.

Open element 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%.  Select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection as before and make a new layer below it.  Open and copy pp10 and paste into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow of Vertical and Horitizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10 to the frame and merge it down onto the paper, drag down below the first merged layer and position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer on the top, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, pick your layers and merge visible.  I used the close up resized 70%.

Open element 4 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, flip, mirror and rotate 40 degrees to the right, drag below the tube,  position on the right and apply the drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Open element 23a and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and mirror, position on the right and apply the drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Open element 6 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open element 3 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50% and position on the left of the tube, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the right of her.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open element 16b and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open element 25 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, position on the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the right.  Apply a drop shadow to both layers changing the vertical and horizontal to 2 and blur to 5.

Open element 20, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 47%, place in position and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back).

Open element 21 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open element 15 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 80% and rotate 100 degrees to the left, erase the long piece that goes down, drag below the hat and shoes, position on the right and apply the drop shadow, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Open element 11 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open element 11b and paste as a new layer.   Resize 23%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open element 7 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open element 13 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el24 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30% and rotate 30 degrees in either direction, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place both butterflies into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.
