About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the layered tube
“Mirror Mirror” from pack 47 by
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase the tube from

I used the kit “Beautiful Halloween” by
I loved this kit, it’s a bit different from the usual
Halloween kits.
The kit can also be found at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 80 by

I used the font

If this is the first tutorial of mine that you have followed, please check out my “About my Tutorials” page before starting, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Copy pp3, make a new layer on your canvas, elect all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Open el19, paste as a new layer and resize 40%.  Select the interior of the element with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below it, copy the paper again and paste it into the selection, deselect.  Go to Effects – Texture Effects – Blinds and apply with Width set to 3, Opacity to 40, colour black and Light from Left/Top checked.  Repeat the Blinds effect with Horizontal box checked also.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame, merge it down onto the paper and move up and to the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and move it to the left.

Open el6 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and move up.  Select the interior of this element with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into it as before, deselect.  Apply the Blinds effect with the Horizontal box checked, apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, pick your layers and copy merged.  I resized my tube 70%.

Open el3a and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and drag down below the tube and el13, duplicate, place both flowers into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, mirror, duplicate, place both flowers into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Open el17 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.  Drag down below the pumpkin, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and position on the left.  Duplicate, move the duplicate so just a little shows on the right of the pumpkin and erase any that shows at the bottom.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.  Drag up above the pumpkin, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el15a and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el10 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 30 in either direction, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place both butterflies into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
