About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the tube “Betwitched” by
Barbara Jensen.
This gorgeous layered tube, which also comes with Hallowe’en and
Christmas options, is currently available as
a free bonus with a tube purchase of $10 from
The promotion runs until the 19th October.

The beautiful kit is called “50 Shades of Blue” by
This kit is also available in shades of pink and can be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 172 by

You will need the free plug in “Jeans” by
(it’s part of the “Garbage Collection”).

Font of choice.

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page if this is the first time you have followed one of my tutorials, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Open pp1 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 95% and lower the opacity to around 65.

Open 8 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and move over to the right hand edge of the mask.  Duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate and move it to the left hand edge.  Duplicate this layer and move it to the top edge.   Duplicate the top layer, mirror and flip it and move it to the bottom edge.

Open 17 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and position in the top, left hand corner.  Duplicate, mirror and move over to the right.  Duplicate each of these layers again, flip the duplicates and position along the bottom.  Apply the drop shadow to each layer.

This is how your tag should look now

Paste your tube as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, pick your layers and copy merged.  I resized my tube 70%.

Open 16 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and rotate 90 degrees in either direction, drag down below the tube and move up a little.

Open pp8 and copy, select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection.  Do not deselect.

Open your tube again, or the close up if you have one, paste it as a new layer, resize as needed and position in the left of the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess.  Paste the tube again but this time mirrored and position in the right part of the frame, delete the excess and deselect.

Merge the top close up copy onto the bottom one, lower the opacity to around 65 and then merge it down onto the paper.  Apply Pentacom “Jeans” with Amount set to 45 and Border Width set to 3.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the merged tube/paper layer.

Open 6 and paste as a new layer  Resize 80% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, drag down below the merged layer and position on the right, apply the drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror and move over to the left.

Open 20 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65% and position on the right above the merged layer.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left above the merged layer.  Duplicate this layer, drag it below the merged layer and position at the top.  Apply the drop shadow to all layers.

Open 25 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and position on the left below the merged layer.   Duplicate and position on the right, still below the merged layer.  Apply the drop shadow to each.

Open 2 and paste as a new layer.  Drag above the merged layer, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 24a and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 27 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 18 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 25 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 30 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and position on the right.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and move over to the left.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open 26, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 22 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 14 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 3 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the right.  Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 19 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and rotate 80 degrees to the left.   Place in position on the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the right.   Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open 7 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  If you are using the same tube as me, copy the gloves and paste as a new layer on the top, resize them the same amount as you did the tube, position them on top of the original gloves but over the jewel and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
