About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the fabulous art of
Maxine Gadd.
You need a license to use Maxine’s art, available at

I used a beautiful kit “1001 Stories” by
I am a regular visitor to India, it is a fascinating country
and  I really loved working with this kit!
It can be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 141 by

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10.  I re-coloured a few of the elements in the kit to better complement my tube; for more information on re-colouring, check out my Tips and Tricks page.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.  Open one of the papers and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 105%, duplicate and flip the duplicate. I used paper 4 re-coloured.

Open 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20 and make a new layer below the element.

Open another of the papers, this time I used pp8, copy it and paste it into the selection, deselect.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed and position inside the element.  Apply the drop shadow to both the element and the tube.  I resized my tube 65%.

Open 6 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, drag down to just above the masks and position on the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and move over to the right.  Paste the element again, resize as before and position at the top.  Apply the drop shadow to all layers.

Open 8 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, drag up so it is above the two side copies of 6 but below the top one and position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on left, apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open 20 and paste as a new layer.  Drag up above the top copy of 6, resize 60% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, position on the left, duplicate, mirror and position on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open 9 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 30 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 25 and paste as a new layer.  Drag up above the frame, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 16 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 24, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 75% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 19 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 11 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 21 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 23 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 10 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 27 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 28 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 18 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 22 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 12 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open 29 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers so far and make any necessary adjustments.

Open 15 and paste as a new layer.  Flip, resize 70%, drag down below 28 and position on the right, duplicate, move the duplicate over to the left, erase any parts that overlap hiding the join behind 28 and apply the drop shadow to both parts.

Open 7 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, drag right down to just above the masks and position in the top, left hand corner.  Duplicate 3 times, mirror and flip the duplicates and position in the other corners.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compressions et to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
