About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

Smoke and Steam ani 277 by Simone at

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting, thank you.

Unless otherwise noted, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Open Paper9-GI_MoonRise and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply Insatiable Dreams’ mask.  Resize 85%.

Open Paper13-GI_MoonRise and copy.  Make another layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply Vaybs’ mask.  Resize 85%, duplicate, merge the top copy down onto the bottom copy and change the blend mode to “Screen”.

Open Frame3-GI_MoonRise, paste as a new layer and resize 50%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20.  Open and copy Paper 13 again, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and then repeat it changing the vertical and horizontal to -5.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resizing as needed, position in the frame and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back).  I resized my tube 80%.

Open Moon-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, drag down to above the masks, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Tree2-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and position on the right, erase the roots that stick out on the side, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and move over to the left.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open Rocks-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, position on the right and apply the drop shadow, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Open WordArt-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.  Drag up above the frame, resize 63% and place in position.

Open String2_GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and erase the right hand bow, position on the left, duplicate, mirror and move the duplicate over to the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open String1_GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Candlesticks-GI_MoonRise, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Bling2-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I re-coloured this element as the blue was a little out of place with my tube.

Open Bottle-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open MaskFace-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Leaves1-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and rotate 40 degrees to the left, erase the stalk at the bottom, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open LeavesDoodled-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Clock-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Flower-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Book-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.   Resize 18%  and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Key-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25% and rotate 30 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Chain-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Crow-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Cloud-GI_MoonRise and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, drag down so it’s just above the bottle layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text and we will carry on with the animation.

Open Simone’s animation in Animation Shop.

Starting from the top, close off all your layers down to and including the tube, make sure one of the opened layers is active and merge visible.  Close off the merged layer, open the others, again activate one and merge visible, then open the first merged layer.

Copy the first merged layer and paste it in Animation Shop.   You will see that Simone’s animation has 21 frames so you need to duplicate your merged layer so that also has 21 frames.

Click on the first frame of Simone’s animation, go to Edit – Select All – Edit – Copy.  Now click on the first frame of the merged layer, right click and “Paste - Into Selected Frame”.   Position the animation on the right hand side, top half of the frame.   Click on the first frame of your merged layer and paste the animation again, this time on the left part of the frame.   Now go to View – Animation and check the animations are in the correct place, check they are not going off the edge of your canvas or you will have a nasty sharp edge.   If they in the wrong place, just hit the back button and try again.

Now go back to PSP and copy the top merged layer and paste it in Animation Shop “As a New Animation”.  Duplicate it again until you have 21 copies and paste onto your animation.

When you are done, run your tag through the optimization wizard and save as a gif.
