About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

I used the fabulous kit

I used two masks in my tag, mask 79 by
and mask 209 by

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new canvas 650 by 650 pixels and fill with white.

Open pp6 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply Gems’ mask.  Resize 85%, duplicate and merge the duplicate down onto the original copy.

Resize your canvas to 650 by 600 pixels keeping the mask central.

Open pp4 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect, apply Vaybs’ mask and drag it down below the first mask.

Open el7 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and place in position, select the interior with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20.

Open and copy pp4 again, make a new layer below the element and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.

Open the tube and paste as a new layer, resize it 80% and position inside the element, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and the tube and change the blend mode on the tube to “Overlay”.

Copy and paste the tube again, this time resize it 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and mirror, drag down to just above the masks and position so it shows on the right, duplicate, flip the duplicate and move over to the left.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 65%, place in position on the netting on the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open el22 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el25, paste as a new layer and drag up to  just below the main tube.   Resize 65%, rotate 40 degrees to the left and place in position on the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the right, apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el15 again and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% as before and position on the left, duplicate, mirror and position on the right, apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, position on the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open el24 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I re-coloured this element as it didn’t match the tube well.

Open el23 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el17 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 again, paste it as a new layer and bring it to the top.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 80%, drag down to just above the rose and position between the skull and the pot.  Duplicate, move the duplicate over to the left, erase the part that shows below the skull and drag it down below the original layer.  Duplicate the original layer again, mirror it,  move over to the right and again drag down and erase the bit at the bottom.  Apply the drop shadow to all layers.

Open e21 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and position on the left, duplicate and move the duplicate to the right, erase the part of the first layer that overlaps the second hiding the join behind the pot and apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
