About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I again used the art of
Maxine Gadd.
You need a license to use Maxine’s art, available at

I used the gorgeous kit inspired by Vinegar October 2012 by
The kit can also be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 141 by

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting, thank you.

Unless otherwise stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Open pp1 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 110%.

Open el2, paste as a new layer and resize 60%.  Select the interior with your magic wand and expand the selection by 30, make a new layer below it, copy the paper again and paste it into the selection, then move it down slightly so the lettering doesn't show.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, position inside the element resizing as needed, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the tube and the frame, then repeat the drop shadow to the frame changing the vertical and horizontal to -5. I resized my tube 85%.  Duplicate the paper layer that is below the tube, drag it up above the tube and change the blend mode to “Soft Light”.

Open e5 and paste as a new layer  Resize 50%, drag down to above the mask, position on the right and apply the drop shadow on the original settings.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Paste e5 on your canvas again, this time resize it 55% and position at the top, apply the drop shadow and repeat it with the minus settings.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, rotate 10 degrees to the right and mirror, position on the right and apply the original drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror and position on the left.

Open el7 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, position on the right and apply the original drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror and position on the left.

Open el9, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35% and mirror, position on the right and apply the drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror and position on the left.

Open el10 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 32% and rotate 30 degrees in either direction, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place both butterflies into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Open el1 again and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55% and rotate 80 degrees to the left.   Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position both elements along the bottom of the frame, apply the drop shadow to each.

Open el7 again and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, duplicate twice, mirror one copy, flip one copy and arrange on the leaves, apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Open el6 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el19 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 67%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 33%, mirror and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow,

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
