About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the tube “Tattered”
from layered pack 29 by
Barbara Jensen.
You can get the tube at

The kit I used is called “Scream” by
This is an awesome kit and also available at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 141 by

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting my tutorials, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 575 pixels and fill with white.

Open pp6 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 110%.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 60% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, move up and to the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open el6 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and move up and a little to the left.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as need, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, pick your layers and copy merged.  I resized my tube 72%.

Open e21 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and drag down below the tube, duplicate and position on either side of it.  We will come back to this later.

Open el7 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, rotate 80 degrees to the left and resize 60%, drag down below the copies of e21 and position on the left.  Duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate and position on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el2,  paste as a new layer and drag up to just below the tube.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el18 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el28 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position on the heart and erase a bit so it looks like it’s pinned to it, then apply the drop shadow.

Open el6a, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el25 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and place in position.  The element already has a shadow but I applied my shadow as well but on a separate layer and erased the part that came on the white reflective section.

Open el22 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a  new layer.   Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Open el26 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, drag right down until is just above el11 and position in the top, right hand corner.  Duplicate three times, mirror and flip the duplicates and position them around the tag erasing any bits that are in the wrong place.  Apply the drop shadow to all layers.

Go back to el21 and select the interior of the left hand copy, expand the selection by 10 and make a new layer below it, open pp5, copy and paste into the selection. Now paste your tube as a new layer again and position it inside the element resizing as needed, invert the selection and  hit delete to remove the excess.  I used the full size tube again resized 70%.  Merge the tube down onto the paper layer and go to Effects – Texture Effects – Blinds and apply with width set to 3, opacity to 30, colour black and both Horizontal and Light from Top/Left boxes checked.  Duplicate, mirror and position the duplicate in the right hand element.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or in a transparent background as a png.
