About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the beautiful art of Rebecca Röske.
You need a license to use Rebecca’s art,
currently available at
and discounted 40%.

I used a fabulous kit called “Ambivalence” by
This is a fantastic kit and also currently running at a discount.
Check out Jessica’s blog for information on
where you can purchase the kit.

You will also need a mask,
I used mask 187 by

Font is

A black background best complements this tag.

Please check out my "About my tutorials" page before starting on the tutorial, thank you.

I used a drop shadow unless otherwise stated of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 and fill with black.

Open Paper7-GI_Ambivalence and copy.    Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Open BloodMoon-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, position in the top, right hand corner and apply the drop shadow.

Open Cloud-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and place in position.

Open Tree2-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.    Mirror,  resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open WordArt2-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Path-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, drag down so its just below the tree layer and place in position.   Apply a drop shadow to the path making sure the “Shadow on a new layer” box is checked with these settings:  Vertical and Horizontal 5. Opacity 80, blur 50 and colour “white”.    Click on the path to activate it and apply the original drop shadow in black.

Your tag should now look something like my screenshot here.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer making sure its on the top.   Resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 75%.

Open Frame7-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, drag down below the tube and place in position.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below it and fill with black.  Do not deselect.

Open your tube again or the close up if you have one and paste as a new layer.  Position inside the frame resizing as needed, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the shadow to the frame and lower the opacity of the tube to around 45.

Open Moss-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer making sure it’s just above the frame.   Resize 40%, position on the left hand side of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open Charm1-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Bow1-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Lantern1-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resixze 60%, place in position, erase the bottom part of the post that shows and apply the drop shadow.

Open Gravestone-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Fan-Gi_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Rose-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Ribbon5-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, flop, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Jar-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Apple1-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resize 17%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open FallingLeaves-GI_Ambivalence, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 30%, erase all the leaves apart from the two right at the front, place them in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Key-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Crow-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Crystal-Gi_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, drag down below the crow, place the chain in its beak erasing any excess and apply the drop shadow.

Open Bling-GI_Ambivalence and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and place in position.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag (change the background to white before cropping so you can see the extent of the mask and don't crop into it), add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
