About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

I used an awesome kit “The Darkest Night” by
Check out Jessica’s site for info on where
you can get her kits.

You will also need a mask, I used mask 147 by

I used the front

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 575 pixels and fill with white.

Open Paper14-GI_TheDarkestNight and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 93%.

Open Frame3-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.  Resize 63%, select the interior with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20.

Open Paper4-GI_TheDarkestNight and copy.  Make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame. We will come back to this later.

Open Backdrop-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, drag down below the frame and paper layers and position on the right.  Duplicate and move the duplicate over to the left.  Erase any of the duplicate that overlaps with the first layer and erase any that shows below the frame on both layers.  Apply the drop shadow to each layer.   I sharpened these layers twice after resizing to bring back their brightness.

Open Moon-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Tree-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Fabric-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and rotate 90 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open the tube, paste as a new layer, bring to the top, resize 75% and apply the drop shadow.  Position on the frame so the right edge of the tube is very slightly over the edge of the frame and the bottom edge of the tube is almost in line with the bottom edge of the frame.   Draw an oblong selection around the bottom half of the tube and delete it, remove the selection, right click on your canvas and “paste as a new layer”, drag this piece below the frame and line the two sections up.

Open Vine-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer, it should be just below the frame.  Resize 55%,  place in position, erase the part that shows below the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open Beads-GI_TheDarkestNight, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Flowers-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Moss-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Flower-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, drag down below the moss and position in the bottom, left hand corner of the frame, apply the drop shadow.

Open Brad-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Ribbon2-Gi_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Ivy-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, rotate 90 degrees to the left and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Rose-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 55% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Bow2-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Bottle-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Crow-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Butterfly-Gi_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.   Resize 20% and duplicate.  Rotate the original 20 degrees to the right, mirror the duplicate and rotate it 30 degrees to the left.  Place both butterflies into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Open Fog-GI_TheDarkestNight and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, drag down so it’s just above the ribbon and position on the right.

Open Sparkles-GI_TheDarkerstNight and paste as  a new layer.  Resize 50% and place in position.  I erased one that was on the tube’s face.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and save as a png on a transparent background.
