About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the awesome art of Garrett Blair.
You need a license to use Garrett’s art, available here.
Garrett receives all the proceeds from the sale of his tubes to
help pay for his medical treatment.

I used a really awesome kit called “Devil Made Me Do It”
by Gemini Creationz.
I just love this kit, it has tons of fabulous elements.
There are some cute little devils in the kit if you didn’t want to buy a tube.
Check out Gemini Creationz' site to see where you can
purchase her kits.

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 141.

Font is Nightmare.

Remember to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating as it makes them a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10 unless otherwise stated.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 600 and flood fill with white.

Open gemini_dmmdi_p5 and copy.   Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Flip and resize  97%.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e5 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 75% and duplicate, line the two copies alongside each other as in my screenshot below and merge the top one down onto the bottom one and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e19 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, position between the two arches and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e12 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 90%.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e4 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, drag down below the tube and place in position.

Open gemini_dmmdi_p2 and copy.  Select the interior of e4 with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.

Open your tube again and paste as a new layer, position inside e4, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and to the tube and change the blend mode on the tube to “Hard Light”.  I didn’t resize my tube.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e60 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 50%, drag down so its just above e12 (the playing card), place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e8 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 85% and position on the right across the playing card.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate, resize it 90% and position it on the left.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e21, paste as a new layer and drag up so its just below the main tube.  Mirror, resize 50%, place in position behind the tube and erase any that shows to the right of it.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e17 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 75%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e42 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50% and place in position.

Open SkyScraps-Toxic-E25 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and position on the left, duplicate  and position the duplicate on the right, duplicate again, mirror and position just behind the tube, apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e61 and paste as a new layer.   Place in position on the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e63 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Gemini_dmmdi_e34 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e18 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e65 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e36 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini-dmmdi_e24 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e39 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e50 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Open gemini_dmmdi_e9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 80%, drag right down until its just above the mask and position on the left hand side.  Duplicate and move the duplicate over to the right.  Duplicate again, rotate 90 degrees to the left and position at the top.  Apply a drop shadow to each layer but changing the horizontal to 2 and blue to 5.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here and don't forget to send me you result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
