About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the fabulous art of Barbara Jensen.
This tube is from Barbara’s pack 34 and is available at her store here.

The kit I used is called “Hello Spring” and is by
The kit is also available at Barbara’s store.

You will also need a mask, I used Designs by Vaybs mask 115, here.

I used the front Ammonite, here.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will look a little blurry; check out my tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 60, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pp5 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place roughly in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, choose your layer options and copy merged.  I resized my tube 80% and did some recolouring, which Barbara’s allows.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.   Drag down below the tube, rotate 10 degrees to the right and place in position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position a little lower down on the left.   Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.  Position on the left, duplicate, resize the duplicate 90%, mirror it and position on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.  Duplicate and mirror the duplicate.  Drag the original down below the yellow flowers and position on the right, position the mirrored flower on the left.  Apply the drop shadow to both.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el17 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, rotate 10 degrees to the left and place in position.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 3, open pp6 and copy, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.

Duplicate your tube, drag the duplicate down below the frame and position inside it, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and lower the opacity on the tube to around 60.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.  Duplicate twice, move one copy down and position  just above the leaf on the left, position one below the eggs and the third below the frame paper layer.  Apply the drop shadow to each copy.

Open el10, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el6 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
