About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Barbara Jensen.
You need a license to use Barbara’s art,
available at her store here.

The kit I used is called “Mardi Gras” by
I love this kit and its gorgeous colours, thank you Carita!
The kit is also available at Barbara’s store.

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 84, here.

Font is Mardi Gras, here.

Your elements will need to be sharpened up after they have been resized/rotated as otherwise they will look a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow unless otherwise specified of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 and floodfill with white.

Open pp1 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer, resize 75% and move up a little.  Select the interior of the element with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10.

Open pp1 again and copy, make a new layer below the element and paste the paper into the selection, deselect, apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror and resize 70%, drag down below the merged layer and place in position on the right.  Duplicate this layer, flip it and position on the left.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers changing the vertical and horizontal to 1, opacity to 50 and blur to 3.

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back to the original ones).  If you are using one of Barbara’s tubes, open it, duplicate and close the original, pick your layer options and copy merged.  I recoloured the fan and resized 70%.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer, resize 70%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el29 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el18 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el1b, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.  Flip, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el3b and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery.
