About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Popeye Wong.
Popeye is very generous and allows his art to be used for free.
Please check out his site here.
I have uploaded the tube for you here,
thank you Pops!

I used the Mix N Match Collab kit
“At the Hop” by
The kits can be purchased separately or together at
a reduced price here.

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 133, here.

Font is Cocktail Shaker, here.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will look a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open sb_pmt_at-the-hop_pp1 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 80%.

Open sb_pmt_at-the-hop_frame 4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and rotate 15 degrees to the left, position in the top, left hand corner.

Open GG paper 8 and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection.  Do not deslect.

Open the tube, mirror it, copy and paste as a new layer, position inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and the tube and lower the opacity of the tube to around 50.

Open the tube again, undo the mirror and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Opemn sb_pmt_at-the-hop_jukebox and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, drag down below the main tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_at-the-hop_diner sign and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open GG frenchfries and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and appl the drop shadow.

Open GG drink and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_at-the-hop_ketchup and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_at-the-hop_mustard and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_at-the-hop_ribbon 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_at-the-hob_burger and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open GG pappershaker and paste as a new layer. Resize 35% and place in position. It already has a shadow so no need for another.

Open GG saltshaker and paste as a new layer.  Resize also 35% and place in position.

Check the positions of your elements and make any necessary adjustments and when you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, I you have any questions, please email me here and don't forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
