Jinx

In this tutorial I used one of José Cano's brand new tubes “Jinx”.
You need a license to use José’s art, available at

The matching kit also called “Jinx” is by
This is a huge kit and will go with many tubes - there
are many more elements than I have used!
The kit is also available at

You will also need a mask, I used Designs by Vaybs mask 120, here.

I used the font Ammonite, here.

When your resize/rotate elements, it makes them a little blurry so you need to sharpen them; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-PP3 and copy.   Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e73 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and move up and to the left.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e42 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position on the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e65 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50% and position on the right.  We will come back to this when we have some other elements in place.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 45%.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e54 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down below the tube and position behind her, apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e88 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e31 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e30 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e61 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e47 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e75 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e76 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e66 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Click on e65 to activate it then click anywhere outside the element with your magic wand to make a selection.  Expand the selection by 15, invert it, make a new layer below the element and flood fill with a dark grey, I used #161918.  Do not deselect.

Open your tube again and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed and position inside the element, invert the selection again and then hit delete to remove the excess, deselect. I resized the tube 50% this time.  Change the blend mode on the tube to “Hard Light” and lower the opacity to around 55, apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e44 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e41, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e96 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 60% and place in position on the right. Duplicate and move the duplicate over to the left.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e106 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e85 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-JINX-e45 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Again, check  the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me  here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
