About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the fabulous art of Barbara Jensen.
You need a license to use Barbara's art, available here.

The kit I used is called "Happy Holidays" by
Disturbed Scraps.
This is an awesome Christmas/New Year kit and
its absolutely free!!
Thank you so much Gaby!
You can get the kit here.

You will also need a mask, I used Vix Big Mask 018, here.

Font is Anchor Steam, here.

Remember to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will look a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 2, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 500 and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used DGB - HH- Paper01.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Open DGB - HH - 062 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 10 degrees to the left.  Move up and to the left a little.

Open DGB - HH - Paper08, paste as a new layer and drag down below the frame.  Resize 40% and position inside the frame.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 30, invert, activate the paper and hit delete to remove the excess, do not deselect.

Open your tube or the close up if you have one and paste as a new layer, resize if needed, position inside the frame and again hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Change the blend mode of the tube to Luminance (L) and apply the drop shadow to the frame.  Close off the white background and mask layers and merge visible then re-open the closed layers.

Open DGB - HH - 052 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90%, drag down below the merged layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open DGB - HH - 036 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and place in position on the right.

Open DGB - HH - 037, paste as a new layer and place in position over the clock.

Open DGB - HH - 054 and paste as a new layer.  Drag up above the merged layer, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open DGB - HH - 048 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara's tubes, open it, duplicate and close the original, make your layer options and copy merged.  I resized my tube 70%.

Open DGB - HH - 030 and paste as a new layer.  Drag down below the tube, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open DGB - HH - 023 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open DGB - HH - 042 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open DGB - HH - 015 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 90% and place in position.

Open DGB - HH - 027, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 70% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open DGB - HH - 053 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open DGB - HH - 013 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open DGB - HH - 045 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open DGB - HH - 044 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here and don’t forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
