About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used another tube from Barbara Jensen's pack 34.
You need a license to use Barbara's art,
available from her store, here.

The gorgeous kit I used is called "Royal Blue" and is by
The kit is also exclusively available at Barbara's store.

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dreams mask 565, here.

Font of choice.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will look a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pp2.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 80%.

Open el28 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and move a little up and to the left.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used pp4.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper layer.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara's tubes, duplicate it and close the original, pick your layer options, merge visible and paste on your canvas.  I resized my tube 75%.

Open el19 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open e27 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and rotate 10 degrees to the left,  place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and place in position.

Open pp2 and copy, select the interior of el16 and expand the selection by 10,  make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection.  Do not deselect.

Copy the tube again, mirror it and paste as a new layer.  If you are using one of Barbara's layered tubes, you will need to copy merged and paste it as a new image, then mirror it, copy again and paste on your canvas.  Resize the tube if required (I resized mine 80%) position inside el16, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the tube and the frame and change the blend mode on the tube to Luminance (Legacy).

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and rotate 50 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el22, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 80%, duplicate and mirror the duplicate, place both layers into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open e3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el5 again and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and rotate 50 degrees to the left as before, then mirror and flip, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el29 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.  If you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
