Haunted House

In this tutorial I used a really cute little goth girl tube
and matching kit, both called “Nina” by
This is a lovely kit with lots of elements and will match up
nicely with other Halloween tubes.
You can get the tube and the kit here.

You will also need a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask, here.

Font is Alice in Wonderland, here.

Remember to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will be a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow thoughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 85, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used SkyScraps-NINA-pp1.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 80%.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E89 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 55%, move over a little to the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open the tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow (I resized Nina 50%).

Open SkyScraps-NINA_e19 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%,  rotate 10 degrees to the right, drag down below the tube and place in position Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5.  Make a new layer below it and flood fill with a dark grey, I used #222120, do not deselect.

Open your tube again and mirror, paste as a new layer, resize as needed (I resized 75%) position nicely in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube.  Deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E13 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, drag down so its above the mask, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E24 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E38 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E37 and paste as a new layer.  Resize also 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E40 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, drag down so its just above the mask and place in position, only a tiny bit shows.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E77 and paste as a new layer.  Drag up so its above the frame, resize 45%, position along the top of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E25 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E85 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E66 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%,  place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E23 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers so far and make any necessary adjustments.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E39 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and place in position, it should be just above the frame layer.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E49 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, drag up do its just below the fence and place in position.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E57 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, drag up so its just below the main tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkScraps_NINA_E55 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E27 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps_NINA_E64 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers again and make any necessary adjustments. When you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
