Autumn Leaves

In this tutorial I have used the art of Amy Brown.
You need a license to use Amy’s art.
I purchased mine from CILM but they are now available here.

I used the Autumn Collab kit by Creative Designs Outlet.
This is a fantastic collab with kits from ten top designers
and is free with a purchase of any two kits here.

You will also need a mask, I used Gem's mask 22, here.

Font is 4 Stix DNA, here.

You will need to sharpen up the elements after resizing/rotating as this makes them a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

Unless otherwise stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

This is a list of the elements/papers I used, you may wish to copy all these to a separate folder before you start to save going backwards and forwards between the kits.

Hungry Hill – paper-2, paper-3, music-scatter,
Crazy Carita – el1, el4, el6, el9, el10
Schnegge – e02, e09
Chichi – Branch, Mushrooms
Abstract – e4, e9
Dee’Sign Depot – Element 3, Element 4, Element 15
Scrap Foxy – Element 9

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used Hungry Hill’s paper-2.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper in to the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open el6 by Crazy Carita and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used paper-3 by Hungry Hill.  Select both parts of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, paste the paper as a new layer below the frame,  resize it 70% and place in position, expand the selection by 10 and then invert it, with the paper activated hit delete, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper.

Open music-scatter by Hungry Hill and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down below the merged layer, place in position and apply a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 50, blur 3.

Open Element 3 by Dee’Signs Depot and paste as a new layer.  Resize 85% and place in position.

Open e09_AutumnCollab2012_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back).

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Branch by ChiChi and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Mushrooms by Chichi and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Element 4 by Dee’Signs Depot and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open e02_AutumnCollabe2012_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el1 by Crazy Carita and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el4 by Crazy Carita and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open e9 by Abstract and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open e4 by Abstract and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el9 by Crazy Carita and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el10 by Crazy Carita and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Element 15 by Dee’Signs Depot and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, drag down so its between the two elements by Carita, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Element 9 by Scrap Foxy, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Mirror, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.  If you have any questions, you can contact me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
