About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Suzanne Woolcott.
You need a license to use Suzanne’s art, available here.

The kit I used is called “Spooky” by
This is a lovely Halloween kit with some really nice elements
that will also work well with any gothic style tag,
you can get it here.

You will also need a mask, I used Horseplay’s Pasture mask 11, here.

Font is Big Fish Ensemble, here.

Your elements will need to be sharpened after resizing as this makes them a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used PDS_S- paper7.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 80%.

Open PDS_S- house and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, move over a little to the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- tree and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, move over to the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- moon and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, drag down below the tree, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- bats1, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- headstone and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- skeletonhand and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, rotate 40 degrees to the left and resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- flower and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- pumpkin and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- potion and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- spiderweb and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- skull and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_S- cat, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your elements and make any necessary adjustments. When you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery.
