About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the “Vintage Dreams Collection”.
This is a superb collection comprising a tube by
Zindy S.D. Nielsen and kit “Vintage Dreams” by
You can get the collection here, again its on offer at 50% off during
September which means you can get the kit and tube for the
regular price of a single tube!

You will also need a mask, I used Horseplay’s Pasture mask 11, here.

Font is Dreamer One, here.

Remember to sharpen those elements up after you have resized/rotated, otherwise they will be a little blurry; you can check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open CJB_VintagePaper4 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply the mask, do not deselect.

Open CBJ_VintagePaper1 and copy.  Repeat the steps above, deselect, lower the opacity to around 70.  Close off your white background layer and merge visible, re-open the closed layer and resize the merged layer 95%.

Open CBJ_VintageSwirl3 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 85% and move over a little to the left.

Open CBJ_VintageClock and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, move a little up and to the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_VintageBook2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open the tube and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_VintageCard and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, rotate 185 degrees to the right, drag down below the book, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_VintageOpenLocket and paste as a new layer.  Drag up so its just above the clock, resize 45%.   Select the interior of the locket with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5, make a new layer below it and fill with a colour of choice, I used white, you dont see much of it, deselect. Apply the drop shadow to the frame, merge the frame down onto the paper layer and place into position.

Open CBJ_VintageBouquet and paste as a new layer.  Drag up above the book, resize 45%, place in position, erase any that shows below the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_VintageRibbon3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_VintageOrchid and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, drag up above the book, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_VintageBranch and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position, erase any that shows below the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_VintageViolin and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position, erase any that shows below the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_VintageFeather1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90%, rotate 20 degrees to the right and place in position.  No need for a shadow as it already has one.

Open CBJ_VintageFlower2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers so far and make any necessary adjustments.

Open CBJ_VintageStars and paste as a new layer.  It should be just below your tube.  Resize 70% and place in position.

Open CBJ_VintageScatterFlutters and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and erase any that shows below the tube.

Open CBJ_VintageOldKey and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_VintageBird, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Mirror, resize 10%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_VintagePebble and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Again, check the positions of your layers, when you are happy with their placement, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, again its been a great collection to work with.  If you have any questions, please email me here and don't forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
