About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Barbara Jensen.
This tube is from her latest pack.
You need a license to use this tube,
available at Barbara's store here.

I used an awesome kit called “Timeless Elegance” by
Love the colours of this kit, thank you Carita!
The kit is also available at Barbara's store.

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dreams mask 565, here.

Font is AL Dreamboat, here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will be a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pp6.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask.  Resize 75%.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and move up and to the right a little.

Open pp6 and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.

Open your tube, duplicate and close the original, select your layer options (I did some re-colouring which Barbara allows on her layered tubes), copy merged and paste as a new layer on your canvas, resize as needed and position inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube.  Apply the drop shadow to both the tube and the frame and change the blend mode on the tube to multiply.

Open your tube again, paste as new layer and bring to the top, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, drag down so its just above the mask layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.  Drag up so its just below the main tube, resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el26 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el18 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el 13 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 85% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, place in position on the right hand side of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open el17 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, duplicate and mirror the duplicate, place both elements in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Open el26 again, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Rotate 90 degrees to the right and resize 70%, place in position along the bottom of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open el30 and paste as a new layer.  Flip, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and pate as a new layer.  Resize 70% and rotate 60 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el13 again and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position over the ribbon and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and duplicate.  Mirror the duplicate, drag down below the ribbon and position on the right hand side.  Drag the original down below your second copy of el13 and position on the left.   Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el15, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 90 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and rotate 5 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el19 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here and don’t forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
