About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Barbara Jensen.
You need a license to use Barbara’s art,
available here.

The kit I used is called “In the Dark” and is by
You can get it here.

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dreams mask 565, here.

Font used is 1 Snappy DNA, here.
For the glass effect on the font you will need
Alien Skin, Eye Candy 5, Impact, Glass
but this is not essential.

Don’t forget to sharpen you elements after resizing/rotating to take away the blurriness. Check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 85, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open PDS_ITD-paper4 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 80%.

Open PDS_ITD-print2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_ITD-wall and paste as a new layer.  Don’t apply the drop shadow yet as we are going to stretch the wall out a bit later.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_ITD-flower4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, drag down below the tube, place in position on the bottom of the wall and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_ITD-flower3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_ITD_flower2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_ITD_swirl3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and place in position on the left.  Duplicate this layer and mirror it, position on the right.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open PDS_ITD_ribbon1 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open PDS_ITD_wings2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your elements and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, go back to your wall layer and activate your Pick tool (I am using version X3, in earlier Jasc versions this was called the “Deform” tool).  When you activate the tool, you will see nodes appear around the wall, put your cursor on the middle node on the right hand side and pull it out very slightly, then do the same thing with the top, middle node but this time push it down a little.  When you have done you will need to sharpen as using this tool makes things a little blurry, then apply the drop shadow.

Crop your tag and add your copyright information and text.

If you have it, apply the Alien Skin, Eye Candy, Impact, Glass plug in on your text. Click on “Settings” and use “clear, no drop shadow” then apply the drop shadow we have used on the rest of the layers.

When you are done, export your tag as jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would, as always, love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
