Sweet Thing

In this tutorial I used a really cute tube from
Sweet Pinup.
You need a license to use Sweet PinUp’s art,
they are available here.

The kit I used is Inspired by Marika Package 4 by
Schnegge’s Scraps.
You can get it here.

You will also need a mask, I used HorsePlay’s Pasture mask 1, here.

Font of choice.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating to take away the blurriness, check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open Paper04_InspMarika4_Schnegge and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply the mask.  Do not deselect.

Open Paper01_InspMarika4_Schnegge and copy.  Make another layer on your canvas and paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask to this paper also.  Set the blend mode to this paper to “soft light”, close off your white background layer and merge visible, re-open the background layer.  Resize the merged mask layer 80%.

Open Frame03_InspMarika4_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 85% and move over a little to the left.

Open Paper04_InspMarika4_Schnegge again and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  We will come back to this later.

Open Beads_InspMarika4_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Flip, resize 85%, drag down so its just above the mask layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Branch_InspMarika4_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65% and rotate 50 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Flower02_InspMarika4_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and rotate 80 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Heart01_InspMarika4_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, drag down below the tube and place in position.  The heart has a shadow so no need to add another.

Open Lipstick_InspMarika4_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Nailpolish_InspMarika4_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Ribbon01_InspMarika4_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 70%, place in position, erase the part that shows at the bottom of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open MakeUp_InspMarika4_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Puppy_InspMarika4_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments. I erased the top, right hand corner of the frame that stuck out above the tube’s head.

Click on your tube to activate it and then duplicate it.  Mirror the duplicate, drag it down so its immediately below the frame layer, position inside the frame and apply the drop shadow.  Again select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection as before, activate the tube again and hit delete to remove the excess.  Lower the opacity of the tube to around 55 and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
