About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

Firecracker

In this tutorial I used the fabulous art of Alicia Mujica.
You need a license to use Alicia’s art,
you can get one for this tube here.

The kit I used is a freebie kit called “Celebration of Independence” by
HorsePlay’s Pasture.
You can get the kit from her blog here.
If you dont have a tube for this tut, there is a really cute little chap
comes with the kit you can use!
Thank you Bevie, this is a gorgeous kit!

You will also need a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask, here.

You will also need some sparkles.
If you don’t have any, you can get the ones I used, here
(bottom, left hand corner).

Font used is 4 Stix DNA, here.

Don’t forget to sharpen up those elements after resizing as otherwise they will be a little blurry.  Check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and floodfill with white.

Open hpd_COI_paper 6 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.

Open hpd_COI_11 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%.

Open hpd_COI_paper 5 and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.   Apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper layer.

Open hpd_COI_8 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, move over to the left a little and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube, copy and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open hpd_COI_17 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open hpd_COI_18 and paste as a new layer.  Again, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow (you will need to bring to the top to resize otherwise it will be hidden by the tube).

Open hpd_COI_19 and paste as a new layer.  Again, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your sparkles,  copy and paste as a new layer.  If you are using your own, resize as needed, I didn’t resize the ones I used.  Drag right down until they are just above the mask layer, duplicate twice and place in position around the mask.

Open hpd_COI_16 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 90%,  place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open hpd_COI-14 and paste as a new layer.  Again resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open hpd_COI_15 and paste as a new layer.  Again resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would, of course, love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
