My favourite things

In this tutorial I used the art of Angela Newman.
You need a license to use Angela’s art.
I purchased mine from Artistic Minds Inc.
but they are now available here.

I used a really lovely kit called My Lil Teddy by
I loved this kit and the colours.
Thank you Schnegge!
You can get the kit here.

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 84, here.

I used Filters Unlimited 02 “Photo Aging Kit” but
this is not essential.

Font of choice.

Your elements will need sharpening after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will be a little blurry.  For more info, check out my Tips and Tricks page.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used p06_mlt_Schnegge.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect, apply the mask and then flip it.

Open frame04_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used p02_mlt_Schnegge.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection.  Do not de-select.

Open your tube. My tube does not have a close up so I mirrored the full body one.  Paste your tube as a new layer, resize as needed and position inside the frame, invert the selection and delete the excess tube.  Apply the drop shadow to the tube, reduce the opacity to around 55 and merge it down onto the paper layer.  Apply Filters Unlimited 02 – Photo Aging Kit – Dust and Scratches with Intensity and Texture both set to 128, repeat changing the Texture to 177.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame.  Close off your white background and mask layers and merge visible.  Re-open the closed layers.

Open deco_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position on the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open boxes_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open book_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position on the book and apply the drop shadow.

Open flower05_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 90%, drag down below the book, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open ribbon01_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open flower09_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and rotate 15 degrees to the left, place in position behind the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open bear02_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pearls_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Flip and resize 65%, drag down below the book layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  Draw an oblong selection with your selection tool around a part on the left hand side as in my screen shot below, right click on your canvas and go to “cut”. Right click again and go to “paste as a new layer”, the part you deleted will come back as a new layer, bring it above the book and join the two parts back together.

Open bonbon01_mlt_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open bonbon03_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize also 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open flower07_mlt_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 65% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, drag it right down so its just above the mask layer, place in position so its showing on the left hand side of the frame, erase any of the stalk that is showing at the bottom and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
