About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the amazing art of Garrett Blair.
You need a license to use Garrett’s art,
available here.

The kit I used is “Inspired Garrett Blair 19” by
Although this kit was inspired by Garrett’s pack 19,
it will go with many other tubes.
You can get the kit here.
Awesome kit, thank you Schnegge!

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dreams mask 565, here.

Font of choice.

Remember you will need to sharpen up those elements after rotating/resizing to take away the blurriness it causes, check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

Unless otherwise stated in the tutorial, I used a deep drop shadow of vertical -2, horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used Paper02_InspGB19_Schnegge.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 82%.

Open Brush01_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, move over to the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open Ace_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and duplicate. Rotate the original layer 10 degrees to the left, place both in position towards the left hand side and apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Open Moon_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, move over to the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open Arch_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and place in position towards the right.

Open Paper11_InspGB19_Schnegge and copy.  Select the interior of the arch with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  We will go back to this later when we have the rest of our elements and tube in position.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Flames_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, drag down below the tube and place in position on the left hand side.  Duplicate this layer and position on the right.  Erase the part of the duplicate that shows on the left hand side of the tube and the part of the original that shows on the right hand side of it.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open Swirl_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open WordArt03_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Ribbon02_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Bottle_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Leaf02_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Stones_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Flower05_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Crowe_InspGB19_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy everything is in place, open your tube again and paste it as a new layer.  Mirror the tube, drag it down below the arch layer, resize as needed, position nicely in the arch and apply the drop shadow.  Click on the arch to activate it and select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10 and then invert it, activate the tube and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect and change the blend mode to overlay.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and then apply it again changing the vertical to 2 and the horizontal to -5.

Crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery.
