In this tutorial I am again using the art of Pinuptoons and a kit by
Schnegge’s Scraps “InspiredPUT103”.
You need a license to use Pinuptoons’ art,
I purchased mine from CILM.
Both the tube and kit are now available at
You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 133, here.
Font of choice.
Don’t forget to sharpen those elements after resizing, check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.
I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 5.
Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 500 pixels and flood fill with white.
Open one of the papers and copy, I used Paper03_InspPUT103Schnegge. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 90%.
Open Frame02_InspPUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 90%.
Open your tube and paste it as a new layer. Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and drag it down below the frame layer. Resize the tubes as needed (I made the top tube a little smaller) place both in position and apply the drop shadow to each. When you have both tubes in position, close the top tube out and we will work on the one in the frame.
Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 5, invert it and hit delete to remove the excess tube. Do not deselect.
Open Paper08_InspPUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Drag it down below the tube layer and resize it 70%. Go back to the tube layer and sent the blend mode to “Difference”, position the paper nicely below the tube and hit delete to remove the excess, you can now deselect (the reason I have done things this way and not just pasted the paper into the frame is because then she had the hearts on the paper in the middle of her face which looked a bit odd). Apply the drop shadow to the frame layer and re-open your closed tube layer.
Open Leaf_InspPUY103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 90% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, drag down so its just above the mask layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open Bow01_InspPUT103_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and drag up so its above the frame, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open Cupcake02_InspPUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open Flower01_Insp_PUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Flip, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open BrokenHeart_InspPUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, drag down below Flower01, paste in position and apply the drop shadow.
Open Wordart03, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Now is a good time to check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.
Take your oblong selection tool, make sure the feathering is set to “0” and draw a selection around the wordart as in my screen shot below. Hit delete to remove that part of the element, right click and “paste as a new layer”. The removed piece will come back on a new layer. Drag it down below the tube and line it back up.
Open Dragonfly_InspPUT103_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 30% and rotate 50 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow. I sharpened the dragonfly up after the resizing and again after the rotation as it became very blurry been resized so small.
Again, check the positions of your layers, when you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here. I would, as always, love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
